Chemical Sciences The course aims to train, within a two-year cycle of studies, graduates with a solid basic and professional background aimed at employment in the main sectors of Chemistry. In this context, knowledge of fundamental chemical disciplines and other more interdisciplinary subjects will be explored in depth, through a balanced alternation of classroom and laboratory activities. The training programme includes advanced courses in fundamental chemical disciplines (analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, macromolecular chemistry). The second year of the course is largely dedicated to attending the thesis laboratory, which lasts one calendar year. The experimental thesis internship can be carried out either at the University or at other affiliated institutions, or partly or entirely abroad, also making use of international student mobility programmes such as Erasmus and Ulisse. At the end of their studies, Master's degree graduates- will have a solid basic cultural background in the various fields of chemistry and a high level of scientific and operational training in the fields that characterise the class;- will have a good command of the scientific method of investigation;- have a good knowledge of supporting mathematical and IT tools;- be able to use, in written and oral form, at least one European Union language other than Italian, with reference also to disciplinary lexicons;- be able to work with a high degree of autonomy, even taking on high levels of responsibility forprojects and structures.Graduates will carry out activities promoting and developing scientific and technological innovation, as well as managing and designing technologies; they will also be able to perform highly responsible roles in the fields of industry, the environment, healthcare, cultural heritage and public administration. After passing a state exam, they will be able to practise as chemists (Category A) and, after passing a competitive exam, they will be able to enrol in courses to obtain a PhD. International double degree programme (starting in the 2024/25 academic year)The Master's Degree programme includes an international programme called ChemTech (Sassari - Master's Degree in Chemical Sciences, Lisbon - Master's Degree in Molecular Science and Engineering), organised in collaboration with the Lisbon Polytechnic Institute “Instituto Superior Técnico”.A limited number of students, selected by both universities, will be given the opportunity to access the international programme, which includes a one-year mobility period (second year) at the partner university, with the aim of acquiring a defined number of credits through exams and experimental activities relevant to the preparation of the thesis. At the end of the international study programme, students will obtain a double degree, namely a Master's Degree in Chemical Sciences (class LM-54) awarded by the University of Sassari and a Master's Degree in Molecular Science and Engineering awarded by the University of Lisbon.
